Greetings Community Supporter:
The C. Waldo Scott Center for H.O.P.E. is honored to salute Dr. Elva Williams Hunt. Dr. Hunt is a retired administrator with the Newport News Public Schools. Notable to us, she has served on the Scott Center’s Board of Trustees since its inception, forging the vision.
Dr. Hunt has been instrumental with ensuring our community youth have opportunities and experiences, which foster their education and developmental assets. She established a collaborative partnership with the Newport News Public Schools and the C. Waldo Scott Center, which continues to exist today.
As the Scott Center has transitioned to a temporary site within the Southeast community of Newport News, Dr. Hunt and the Board members continue to advocate for our community youth and families. As we have made significant efforts in providing programs, services, and resources to address the areas of education, health, life skills, and employment, we acknowledge that our work is still evolving. The Board has made a commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders through the provision of scholarships. The scholarship awards will help some of our local high school seniors to continue their education at the collegiate level.
The Scott Center’s Board of Trustees is requesting that you invest in our youth by donating through our virtual donors’ event. In honor of Dr. Elva Hunt Williams, this year’s fundraising theme is “Keeping the Vision Flourishing”, as we have much more work to do to serve our community. The virtual event will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. You will be able to access the event presentation on the Scott Center’s website.
To show your support, you may give a generous donation using the enclosed envelope or electronically via our website and/or place a celebratory advertisement in our virtual program booklet (to be posted on our website).
As always, we thank you for your support. For more information, please contact the Scott Center (757) 244-9223 or [email protected].
