With the Investment of our community donors, the C. Waldo Scott Center’s Board of Trustees annually awards scholarships to out local Newport News High School Seniors.
Over the past 22 years, they have awarded $99,621 in scholarships.
We thank our donors for their support to help our community youth reach their educational goals.

Caitlyn Brannon
Menchville High School Graduate
Caityln is currently enrolled at Eastern Gateway Community College to study Early Childhood Education. Upon completion, she will transfer to Central State University to major in Elementary Education. She aspires to be a teacher.
Tjura Chatman
Heritage High School Graduate
Tjura is enrolled at Old Dominion University. Her intended major is Literature & a minor in Business. Tjura volunteered over 200 hours with the Scott Center working with our youth. She aspires to be a Child Services Lawyer.
Camryn Dickerson
Woodside High School
Camryn graduated with Honors - Early College Program. She served as Vice-Chair for the Mayor's Youth Commission and participated in may other organizations. She is passionate about giving back to her community through volunteerism. Camryn will attend the College of William & Mary to major in Biology/Pre-Dental studies & Business. Her favorite quote: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Phillipians 4:13
Brandon Hedgepeth
Woodside High School Graduate
Brandon is enrolled at Old Dominion University. His intended major is Communications. Brandon plans to continue to work towards the betterment of his community and expanding his online brands. He aspires to start his own company, specializing in media production.
Jayvon Ricks
An Achieveable Dream Academy
Jayvon is enrolled at Old Dominion University. he plans to major in Graphic Design. He aspires to be an entrepreneur using graphic design knowledge. He plans to use his business experience to create a better environment for communities and youth on a national level.
Aaron Tyler
An Achieveable Dream Academy
Aaron is enrolled in Richard Bland College of William and Mary. He plans to obtain his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts & Science. He will continue his education with the goal of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. He aspires to own his own grocery in an impoverished community.
Tyreece White
Woodside High School Graduate
Tyreece is enrolled at Davidson College, North Carolina. He plans to major in Computer Science Engineering. he received an athletic/academic scholarship to play Division I football. He aspires to apply with the CIA or start his own software company.
